Photorejuvenation: Treat Sun Damage and Reduce Pore Size

IPL is an acronym for Intense Pulsed Light. This treatment is also referred to as photorejuvenation. LimeLight is Cutera’s trademarked IPL device. It is the only programmable treatment on the market. This device allows us to more accurately customize your IPL treatment to your skin type.

How does it work?

It selectively treats the red or brown pigmented areas of the skin. This is the same exact method that produces the therapeutic effect. Watch the treatment video here.

What particular areas can be treated?

Get this treatment at Laser Skin & Wellness to reduce sun damage and pore size. Photorejuvenation treats most upper body areas with sunspots and sun damage, redness or freckles. The most popular areas for treatment are the face, chest, shoulders, arms and hands because they have suffered from the most sun exposure.

What does it feel like?

When the hand piece is placed on your skin, it will feel cool and comfortable. When the pulse of light is delivered, you will feel a brief stinging heated sensation.

Can anyone have it done?

If you have light or medium colored skin , you may be a good candidate for photorejuvenation using the LimeLight device. If you have darker skin tones, this may not be the best option for you. We can let you know if you’re a candidate at the time of your consultation.

After The Treatment

What can I expect afterwards?

Immediately following treatment, the spots may start to darken. You may notice a slight reddening of the surrounding skin. This typically subsides within a couple of hours. During the next one to three weeks, spots that were dark will start to fade and flake off. Expect some swelling for about a day or two if you have diffuse redness or the veins but it should subside in a few days.

How many treatments will I need?

Typically, one to three photorejuvenation treatments are sufficient to see dramatic results. Additional treatments may be required for very dark spots or excessive sun damage.

When will I see results?

Most patients see significant improvement within two to three weeks of treatment. However, your final result may not be apparent for several months.
