Introduced in 2019, Jeuveau is the first injectable neuromodulator to hit the market, offering highly similar results to BOTOX® and other botulinum toxin injections. Also known as “Newtox,” this formula can be a great introduction to people who haven’t tried cosmetic facial wrinkle reduction with cosmetic injections before.

What is Jeuveau?

In short, Jeuveau and Botox are nearly identical solutions, although the manufacturing process differs in slight ways that could make jeuveau work better than BOTOX® —and vice versa— for some patients. The active ingredient is botulinum toxin type A, which inhibits the movement of targeted muscles to reduce the appearance of severe frown lines that appear when you move certain facial muscles.

What Can Jeuveau Treat?

Currently, Jeuveau is the only FDA approved for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe glabellar lines, sometimes called “eleven” lines, that appear between the eyebrows at the base of the forehead. While these folds naturally occur when frowning, over time they can appear during a resting facial expression, causing people to look angry or older than they actually are. Jeuveau injections offer a much more youthful appearance.

Our board-certified injectors may also use Jeuveau for off-label uses to treat areas that haven’t been given FDA approval for Jeuveau specifically but have been for BOTOX®.

Is Jeuveau Better than Botox?

The formulas for these two injectable neurotoxins are remarkably similar. They have nearly the same molecular weight and complex proteins and require similar units to achieve the results people expect from wrinkle treatment. The subtle difference between these two products (and Dysport) is well understood by our medical injectors, who can give you the best recommendation based on your goals, concerns, and budget.

The Jeuveau Treatment Process

Like other injectable treatments, Jeuveau treatments in both Lake Worth or Palm Beach Gardens is simple, fast, and relatively painless. They will reconstitute and inject Jeuveau in a predetermined pattern, usually requiring several points of injection for the most even distribution. There’s no downtime required and the total process takes about 10 minutes, so you can even have this treatment on a lunch break and not take time off work.

Results of Jeuveau

Jeuveau is capable of producing results for wrinkle reduction or elimination that are highly similar to BOTOX®. Although not as much research has been done on this new formula as the nearly 20-year-old BOTOX®, Jeuveau results can come a little sooner than with Botox, while lasting the same amount of time, about three to four months, in many patients.
