Hyperhidrosis, also known as excessive sweating, can cause extreme embarrassment and discomfort. Neuromodulator injections are safe and effective methods to reduce symptoms of hyperhidrosis. These long-lasting treatments can treat axillary, palmar, and plantar cases of hyperhidrosis. Learn more about the hyperhidrosis treatments we offer, and the treatment techniques involved.

How Does Hyperhidrosis Treatment Work?

The body has two different types of sweat glands: eccrine and apocrine. The eccrine sweat glands are everywhere and regulate the body’s temperature. Apocrine sweat glands are in the armpits, groin, and breast areas. These areas produce sweat when the body is triggered by pain, distress, fear, and stimulation. Hyperhidrosis treatments focus on addressing the apocrine sweat glands.

We offer Hyperhidrosis injections at our office, including Jeuveau, Dysport, and Botox. Hyperhidrosis treatment works through the injection of botulinum toxin type A. The toxin can help minimize overactive sweat glands’ activity. The injection involves a diluted formulation of the toxin in small amounts.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

Botulinum toxin injections are most effective for areas with concentrated levels of sweat. These areas typically contain the apocrine sweat glands. The hyperhidrosis treatment can treat the armpit areas, palms, face, head, and feet.

About Your Treatment

Your hyperhidrosis treatment will be performed by a licensed medical professional in-office. This quick 30-minute treatment will begin with the cleansing of the treatment area. Afterward, your injector specialist may mark the injection locations. Topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area to reduce any discomfort you may feel. Multiple injections are made in the treatment area, and you will soon notice a decrease in sweat.

Results and Recovery

After your hyperhidrosis treatment, you will be released from the office and can enjoy the rest of your day as usual. Patients who receive injections may experience bruising, swelling, itchiness, and redness in their treatment area. Your neurotoxin treatment will last four to twelve months.

What Does Treatment Feel Like?

You should not feel any pain during your injectable treatment because of the numbing cream used on the treatment area during your injection.

Who is a Good Candidate?

Candidates for hyperhidrosis treatments include those in good health who experience excessive sweating. These patients may be embarrassed by their condition, which affects the clothes they wear and the activities that they participate in. The best way to determine if you are a candidate for hyperhidrosis treatment is through an in-depth consultation with one of our trained professionals.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I reduce over-sweating?
Individuals with hyperhidrosis sweat excessively and unpredictably. Unfortunately, this means that tactics that would normally help an individual to stop sweating may not work. The most effective solutions for hyperhidrosis are neuromodulator injections. To learn more about these options, please contact Laser Skin & Wellness today.
  • Will hyperhidrosis go away?
No, hyperhidrosis is usually a long-term condition that will not improve on its own. While there is no cure, there are many treatments available to help manage symptoms.
  • What is the root cause of hyperhidrosis?
The root cause of hyperhidrosis is overstimulated cholinergic receptors on eccrine glands. This causes excessive sweating, which occurs even when it is cool outside or when your body is at rest.
  • Does insurance pay for hyperhidrosis treatment?
Some insurance companies may cover the cost of hyperhidrosis treatment if they consider it medically necessary. For more information, contact your insurance company today.
  • What happens if hyperhidrosis is left untreated?
If left untreated, hyperhidrosis may cause skin infections, emotional or psychological distress, or dehydration. Our team at Laser Skin & Wellness is happy to help. Contact us today to discuss your hyperhidrosis treatment options.
