Since 2002, over 10 million vials of the botulinum toxin injection, BOTOX® have been sold around the United States. Like getting a manicure, or enjoying a massage, people everywhere have already made BOTOX® a part of their routine cosmetic treatment.

Rediscover Your Youthful Appearance

As a non-surgical option for erasing facial wrinkles like frown lines and crow’s feet, both men and women can rediscover the flawless complexions of their younger days without the need for surgery. Another benefit experienced by actual patients is a visible lifting of the fine lines and wrinkles, helping your forehead lines look smoother and adding to a more youthful complexion.

What is BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet lines. It is also one of the most extensively studied botulinum toxin injections and has a long record of reliability for any approved treatment area.

Derived from a number of natural sources, BOTOX® treatment was coined by the Allergan Pharmaceutical Company. Now the name BOTOX® cosmetic is commonly used as an overall term when describing similar products from other companies. This FDA-approved botulinum toxin type serves a variety of cosmetic purposes along with certain medical conditions like urinary incontinence.

How Does It Work?

The primary cause of issues like crow’s feet and frown lines are the repeated contractions of facial muscles from squinting and yes, you guessed it, frowning. As these contractions continue over the years, the effects will start to be displayed and then increase. These issues may lead to vision problems or chronic migraines– botulinum toxin treatment can alleviate blurred vision, migraine headaches, and double vision.

BOTOX® injections target specific facial muscles within these problem areas. It then chemically blocks the impulses to the muscle from the nerve signals, resulting in the relaxation of the muscle and preventing fine lines and wrinkles. In short, when injected into the area, the formula will temporarily reduce activity in nearby muscles.

After the session, the injections of botulinum toxin make a smoother and softer appearance in the treatment area, while at the same time, any untreated muscles continue to contract in a normal fashion. This method allows your facial expression as well as your sensation to be genuinely unchanged. As time progresses, you will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your crow’s feet and frown lines.

How Long Does Treatment and Recovery Take?

After your initial consultation, the procedure itself should take about 10 minutes or less. The recovery time is essentially non-existent, so you should be able to resume your regular activities immediately upon leaving our facility.

How Quickly Might I See the Results of the Treatment on My Face?

Initial relaxing of the musculature may begin in as little as 24 to 48 hours and the full effect should be complete after 2 weeks. This is why we wait 14 days before any “touch-up” treatment will be performed.

How Often Should I Schedule Treatments?

Although the results can last up to four months, when receiving BOTOX® treatments at Laser Skin & Wellness, we recommend that our patients schedule their first three appointments twelve weeks apart. After that, the following treatments can be scheduled at sixteen weeks. By using this schedule, we can perform follow-up treatments before the muscles have the chance to regain full movement, aiding in the prevention of additional wrinkles and potentially needing less product to maintain optimal results.

What is the difference between Dysport® and BOTOX®?

We offer both products because they provide our patients with similar lasting results and some patients prefer one over the other. Some patients might try the other product based on special pricing or a friend’s recommendation. We feel confident that you will be happy with the results we provide with either product.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Botox age you?

Injecting excess BOTOX in the forehead over time can cause the muscles to grow weaker and the skin to appear thinner or looser. For this reason, its important to seek a qualified and experienced injector when choosing Botox.

Can Botox cause weight gain?

BOTOX® does not cause weight gain, because it does not affect any system in the body that is responsible for building or losing weight. It is also important to remember that BOTOX® or any Neurotoxin does not travel. Each injection, in the hands of an experienced injector, has a spread the size of a dime or nickel.

Can Botox help sinuses?

Some patients find that BOTOX® can reduce sneezing, itching, nasal drainage, or nasal blockage.

Can I go for a walk after Botox?

You can perform light exercise, like walking, after receiving your BOTOX® injections. Wait 4 hours before laying down and wait until the next day before strenuous exercise routines.

Can I have wine after Botox?

You should skip the wine after getting Botox. It can act as a blood thinner and may increase bruising and swelling after the injection. After 24-48 hours, you can start drinking alcohol again.

Can Botox help reduce headaches?

Many patients report a reduction in the severity and frequency of their headaches.

How does Botox work?

BOTOX® is a neuromodulator, meaning it can block chemical signals which normally cause movement in the muscles. BOTOX® is injected in tiny amounts and safely relaxes the muscles that create wrinkles. BOTOX® slowly wears off over 3-4 months.

Is Botox safe?

BOTOX® is extremely safe and effective in the hands of an experienced injector. You should always verify the authenticity of your BOTOX® and only receive it from a licensed and reputable provider.

Who can administer Botox?

In the state of Florida, administering BOTOX® is considered the practice of medicine, so it can be prescribed and injected by a doctor (MD), physician's assistant (PA), or advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP).
