Dysport® is one of the most popular forms of botulinum toxin-A on the market. Dysport® is a leading botulinum toxin product for reducing lines and wrinkles right along with BOTOX®. Many people seek regular treatments as part of their beauty routine. As a non-surgical method for reducing the look of lines and wrinkles in the face, both men and women can rejuvenate their youthful appearance with this injectable option. Patients love Dysport® since it is a quick, easy option for a fresh face.

What is Dysport®?

Dysport® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment for the reduction of frown lines or forehead lines. This helps patients to feel confident in themselves while continuing to look young. Dysport® has been approved for use in over 69 countries and has been used clinically for over 25 years worldwide. Although Dysport® is made up of botulinum toxin A, the formulation is different than BOTOX®. This means that the number of units used during Dysport treatment is different than with Botox. This other botulinum toxin product also diffuses more than Botox, meaning it can treat a larger area with fewer units.

Dysport® is one of the many forms of botulinum toxin on the market and has been trusted by patients and physicians for years.

How Does it Work?

People get frown lines because of the constant contraction of muscles when you frown or move your eyebrows. With this injectable, we can smooth out these lines to create a more youthful face. Dysport® works by relaxing and reducing muscle activity to target moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Dysport® generally involves one injection into five injection sites around the eyebrows to temporarily prevent muscle contractions that cause the frown lines. Your face still can move naturally so you can make normal facial expressions. Dysport® produces amazing results that look completely natural.

Am I a Candidate for Dysport?

Botulinum toxin products are a safe treatment for most patients hoping to smooth facial wrinkles. One of the most common side effects of Dysport use is an allergic reaction since one of the ingredients used is lactic acid (cow’s milk protein). You should tell your doctor if you have had allergic reactions to dairy or Dysport ingredients; other injectables may be safer to use. You should also wait to receive treatment if you currently have a skin infection.

How Long Does Recovery Take?

At the initial consultation, we will go over the treatment, including the planned injection site(s), and recovery with you. The procedure itself takes less than 10 minutes to complete, depending on how much Dysport is needed. After your injectable treatment, you may experience slight swelling and bruising around the injection site, but this will resolve within a few days.

How Quickly Will I See Results?

The majority of patients see improvement within two days following their Dysport® treatment but the full effect may not be seen for 2 weeks. We typically schedule a follow-up appointment in 2 weeks to make sure the desired result has been achieved.

How Often Should I Schedule Treatments?

Dysport treatments offer temporary improvement, but patients enjoy their results for up to four months. At this point, most of our patients return for a follow-up session to maintain their Dysport® results. The Laser Skin & Wellness team recommends that patients schedule their first three treatments about twelve weeks apart. Afterward, the following treatments may be scheduled sixteen weeks apart.

What is the difference between Dysport® and Botox?

Dysport is one other botulinum toxin product used to treat moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles. We offer both of these wrinkle-reducing products at Laser Skin & Wellness. Both of these products offer similar results. Some patients may prefer one over the other. We feel confident that both of these are great options that our patients will be happy with.
