An Effective Way to Rejuvenate the Skin

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a nonsurgical treatment that involves using a fine needle to create many small, micro-wounds in the top layer of the skin. This minimally invasive treatment can help to reduce the appearance of fine and deep wrinkles, acne scars, and sun damage and pigmentation. It is done in office, is virtually painless, and is very effective.

Laser Skin & Wellness utilizes two different pens for our microneedling, in order to best accommodate patients with different skin types. The Dermapen® Microneedling Pen consists of 12 tiny needles and uses its own patented systems to ensure that the treatment is as effective as possible. The Vivace tool incorporates radio frequency that works to contour and tighten skin in the treatment areas.

How Does It Work

Microneedling works by creating small micro-wounds in the topmost layer of the skin. These small wounds stimulate the body’s natural healing process, resulting in cell turnover and increased collagen and elastin production. This can help to reverse and prevent signs of aging such as wrinkling and pigmentation, and even soften the look of acne scars.

What Particular Areas can be Treated?

Microneedling can be used on almost any area of skin that is showing signs of aging, but is most commonly done on the face.

What Does it Feel Like?

Because the needle used during professional microneedling is small, it is not as painful as one might think. Before treatment, we apply a layer of lidocaine to numb the treatment area, so that treatment is virtually painless.

What can I Expect Afterward?

There is little to no downtime needed after your microneedling treatment, which makes this a great treatment option for those with busy lifestyles. Mild bruising and redness may occur, which can last for 2-3 days, depending on the depth of the treatment. However, makeup can be worn to easily cover up any temporary imperfections. Patients should avoid direct exposure to the sun after treatment to protect their skin.
