Reduce Sun damage and pore size
What is IPL/LimeLight?
IPL is an acronym for Intense Pulsed Light. LimeLight is Cutera’s trademarked IPL device. LimeLight is the only programmable IPL on the market. This allows us to more accurately customize your treatment to your skin type. This treatment is sometimes referred to as photo-rejuvenation.
How does it work?
The LimeLight IPL selectively heats and treats the brown and/or red pigmented areas of your skin. It is this process that causes the therapeutic effect.
What areas can be treated?
We can treat most upper body areas with sunspots, freckles and/or redness. The most popular areas for treatment are the face, chest, shoulders, arms and hands because they have suffered from the most sun exposure.
What does it feel like?
When the handpiece is placed on your skin, it will feel cool and comfortable. When the pulse of light is delivered, you will feel a brief stinging heat sensation.
What can I expect afterwards?
Immediately following the treatment, the spots may start to darken. You may notice a slight reddening of the surrounding skin. This typically subsides within a couple of hours. Over the course of the next one to three weeks, darkened spots will fade and flake off. If you have diffuse redness or the veins, you may have some swelling for day or two after treatment. This should subside within a few days.
How many treatments will I need?
Typically, one to three treatments are sufficient to see dramatic results. Additional treatments may be required for very dark spots or excessively sun-damaged skin.
When will I see results?
Most patients see significant improvement within two to three weeks of treatment. However, your final result may not be apparent for several months.
Can anyone have it done?
Anyone with light or medium colored skin may be a candidate for the LimeLight treatment. Those with darker skin tones may not. We will assess your particular skin type and let you know if you’re a candidate at the time of your consultation.
