It’s that time of year–when people start drifting away from both the gym and their weight loss resolutions for various reasons.

Here are some tips for staying on track.
Make a calendar each month and write down the workouts you did and healthy meals you prepared for yourself.
Make sure your goals are clearly visible on the calendar–whether it’s a goal weight, number of reps or miles, or other accomplishment, make sure you can see it every day. Post the calendar somewhere you’ll be sure to see it daily.
Tip: The calendar is there to motivate you as you see progress; it’s not there to beat yourself up!
Can’t make it to the gym because you’re slammed at work? Don’t make the day a total wash–incorporate a few short workouts into your day. Getting moving, even if for only a few minutes, can help motivate you, stay on track, and maintain your progress. Make it a point to move at least a little each day. Schedule time for exercise as you would a meeting–it’s that important!
Tip: Get moving for a minimum of ten minutes for every two hours of sitting. Take a walk around the block or climb up and down a flight of stairs.
You’re never going to stick with something you don’t enjoy, so make sure you find a workout that’s fun and interesting for you. Try out several types of exercises to see what you like best–you could be surprised at what you gravitate towards.
Ballet barre classes, for example, are a great way to work all of your muscles and keep yourself from getting bored. These workouts are fun dance-based routines that can help you gain muscle, balance, and coordination while sculpting a dancer’s body.
Tip: Group fitness classes or taking a friend to the gym can keep you motivated for much longer than if you were to work out alone.
