MedSpa Quiz: Laser vs. Injectibles. Which treatment is right for you? (Visit)

At Laser Skin & Wellness, our expert dermaplaning specialists use this treatment to exfoliate the skin by getting rid of dead skin cells and excess velous hair (peach fuzz) on the face. This painless procedure rejuvenates the skin leaving “baby smooth” skin and a glowing appearence. Dermaplaning can be combined with a facial, chemical peel, enzyme treatment or IPL for a more aggressive treatment.

What is Dermaplaning?

One of the most popular cosmetic treatments right now is dermaplaning. This treatment exfoliates and removes the top layers of the skin to get rid of dead, aged tissue. The aim of this procedure is to smooth out the skin by removing dead skin cells and velous hair. This is an effective method for those who want to look refreshed and those who do not want any down-time associated with more aggressive treatments.

The basic concept of dermaplaning reflects the idea of shaving. It uses a medical grade blade that will be slowly guided across the skin at an angle to remove tissue, dead cells, and other skin debris that may be lying on the surface of your skin. This increases cellular turnover and helps your skin to stay smooth and soft. It’s an effective exfoliating procedure because it causes the body to use its natural healing processes to create new tissue. Post treatment skin care products are more effective as they are no longer blocked by dead skin cells and facial hair! This treatment is loved by patients because of how the skin feels afterwards.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Our aestheticians recommend getting a dermaplaning treatment done every four-six weeks to keep skin looking youthful and refreshed. Depending on your skin concerns and aesthetic goals this number may vary.  It is part of our Silver Beauty Club so many patients cycle through and include dermaplaning a couple of times per year.

What Happens After Treatment?

Unless Dermaplaning is combined with other treatment modalities, it does not come with any recovery time. Most patients report some temporary redness post-treatment, but it resolves within a few hours. Since dermaplaning is non-invasive there is no need for any post-treatment care. You are free to return to your normal daily activities following dermaplaning. It is recommended to avoid excessive heat on the skin for the first few days as your skin may be sensitive during this time.
