At Laser Skin & Wellness, our aesthetic specialists stay up to date with the latest treatment options so that our patients can enjoy the best possible results. One exciting new treatment option is QWO®, an injectable that can be used to smooth cellulite on the buttocks and thighs.
QWO® is a groundbreaking cellulite treatment. It is the first and only FDA-approved injectable product intended to address cellulite. QWO® works by addressing the fibrous bands that pull skin down, resulting in the dimpled appearance of cellulite. The enzymes within QWO®’s formula, known as collagenases, work to release these fibrous bands and smooth the appearance of cellulite.
- Cellulite dimples
- Cellulite wrinkles
- 20 - 60 minutes
The ideal QWO® candidate is a woman with moderate to severe cellulite. Because cellulite affects a vast majority of women, this means that QWO® is a suitable treatment option for most patients. However, it is not safe for those who have certain allergies, bleeding disorders, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Before receiving QWO® injections, you should inform your doctor of your medical history and any medications you take, including over-the-counter medications or supplements and vitamins.
Some patients may be better suited to a skin tightening treatment rather than QWO®. This is because skin laxity or sagging can, in some cases, mimic the dimpled appearance of cellulite. During your consultation, your skin will be evaluated to determine whether QWO® or another treatment is your best option to achieve a smooth and firm appearance.
QWO® is a non-surgical treatment that does not require anesthesia. Your injector will mark the dimples to be treated before injecting QWO® with a small needle. Most patients require a series of three treatments, which are typically scheduled 3 weeks apart. The treatment sessions are each completed quickly in our Lake Worth and Palm Beach Gardens offices.
“The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They took their time to explain everything to me and they were very kind and gentle throughout my procedure. I would recommend them to anyone I know.” — Laurin S.
Immediately after QWO® injections, you will likely notice some soreness, redness, slight swelling, or bruising at the injection site. These are all normal side effects which should resolve quickly. Because bruising is common, you should take care to schedule your injections when the treatment area will not be visible—for example, it is best not to schedule QWO® injections close to a vacation when you might be wearing a swimsuit. Final results are typically seen 10 weeks after your first treatment session. After your QWO® treatment is complete, you should see noticeably smoother skin.
