Photorejuvenation: Treat Sun Damage and Reduce Pore Size

IPL is an acronym for Intense Pulsed Light. This treatment is also referred to as photorejuvenation. LimeLight is Cutera’s trademarked IPL device. It is the only programmable IPL on the market. This device allows us to more accurately customize your IPL treatment to your skin type.

How does it work?

The LimeLight IPL selectively heats and treats the brown and/or red pigmented areas of your skin. It is this process that causes the therapeutic effect. Watch the treatment video here.

What areas can be treated?

Get IPL Photorejuvenation at Laser Skin & Wellness to reduce sun damage and pore size.Photorejuvenation treats most upper body areas with sunspots and sun damage, freckles and/or redness. The most popular areas for treatment are the face, chest, shoulders, arms and hands because they have suffered from the most sun exposure.

What does it feel like?

When the hand piece is placed on your skin, it will feel cool and comfortable. When the pulse of light is delivered, you will feel a brief stinging heated sensation.

Can anyone have it done?

Anyone with light or medium colored skin may be a candidate for photorejuvenation using the LimeLight IPL device. Those with darker skin tones may not. We will assess your particular skin type and let you know if you’re a candidate at the time of your consultation.

After IPL Treatment

What can I expect afterwards?

Immediately following treatment, the spots may start to darken. You may notice a slight reddening of the surrounding skin. This typically subsides within a couple of hours. Over the course of the next one to three weeks, darkened spots will fade and flake off. If you have diffuse redness or the veins, you may have some swelling for day or two after treatment. This should subside within a few days.

How many IPL treatments will I need?

Typically, one to three photorejuvenation treatments are sufficient to see dramatic results. Additional treatments may be required for very dark spots or excessive sun damage.

When will I see results?

Most patients see significant improvement within two to three weeks of treatment. However, your final result may not be apparent for several months.
