Injectables: BOTOX®
What is BOTOX® and is it safe?
BOTOX® is a purified protein derived from the bacterium, Clostridium Botulinum. Using a tiny micro-needle, a very small amount of BOTOX® is injected, very precisely, into several locations on the face typically the vertical lines between your eyebrows, forehead lines, and lines at the corners of your eyes (crow's feet). BOTOX® injections have been used safely and effectively for over ten years to treat many ophthalmologic and neurological disorders. In 2004, over 2 million people were injected with BOTOX®. Laser Skin Solutions buys its BOTOX® directly from Allergan, the only FDA approved source in the U.S.
How long does the procedure take?
Following the consultation, the actual procedure takes less than 15 minutes. Since there is no downtime - you can do it at lunchtime – and no one would know you had it done!
How does BOTOX® work?
BOTOX® is injected into a targeted facial expression muscle, blocking impulses from the nerve to the muscle, thereby relaxing the muscle so it does not contract. This causes the overlying skin to become smoother, with fewer lines and wrinkles. After treatment, the skin remains smooth and unwrinkled, while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression and feeling to be unaffected.
How quickly will I see results?
BOTOX® usually starts relaxing the treated area within several days, but the full effect may not be realized for two weeks.
How long will BOTOX® last?
The effects last between 3-4 months on average but everyone is different. We advise our patients to have the first 3 treatments precisely at 12 weeks and the next two treatments precisely at 16 weeks. Typically patients who follow this treatment schedule begin to need less Botox and they increase the time between treatments.
Injectables: Facial Fillers
The application of any facial filler is as much an art as it is science. Our practitioners have the skill and experience to make the results look natural and symmetric. The choice of filler also depends on the skin type and desired look of the patient.
Hylaronic Acid Gel, such as Restylane™ Juvaderm™ and Restylane™, is injected as filler for attenuating deep skin folds and wrinkles, and for soft tissue augmentation such as lip plumping. Hylaronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that gives soft tissue its bulk and "feel". Restylane™ is a synthetic substance, with a very low risk of causing allergic reactions. Juvaderm™ and Restylane™ are extracted and purified from biologic sources. Both materials are gradually reabsorbed, with a cosmetic result that can last up to a year.
RADIESSE® consists of tiny calcium-based microspheres that form a “scaffold” to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Over time, the calcium-based microspheres gradually break down and are safely and naturally absorbed by your body. RADIESSE® rebuilds your skin’s foundation without the risks associated with a permanent implant. Results can last up to 18 months.
