When our bodies and minds are stressed, it can take a toll on our health and make us susceptible to diseases like breast cancer. In order to prevent breast cancer we’ve learned that we need to eat the right foods and make our regular visits to gynecologist, but there is another factor that can weaken our body and that’s stress. Here we look at a few ways to beat stress, so we can stay focused on our health. Beating Stress

#1: Exercise

Exercise is one of the best ways to combat stress and stay healthy. If you find yourself making excuses to not exercise (which we all do from time to time) then try to change up your routine. Get off the treadmill and take a hike instead, add upbeat music to your routine, or just interpretive dance alone in your living room to your favorite songs. It doesn’t matter what motivates you, as long as it gets you moving, your body will thank you.

#2: Make time to worry

When you try to push your worries to the back of your mind, they will just continue to resurface until they eventually cause you to become tied up in knots. Take ten minutes a day to either write down your stresses or to just sit and think about them. Then let them go until the next day when you allow yourself to worry again. You’ll feel better knowing that you’ve given them the attention they demand, so you can move on to more important things in your day.

#3: Get plenty of sleep

We tend to let our minds drift to stressful thoughts when we haven’t gotten enough sleep. Take care in putting yourself to bed at a reasonable time, so you’re getting plenty of sleep. If you have a hard time sleeping, make sure you’re turning off all of your devices and the television an hour or so before bed and make your nighttime routine involve a book, a hot cup of tea, or what ever calms you the most.

#4: Talk it out

Take time with friends, family, and those that you’re close to so you can get those things that stress you out off your chest. We can be very hard on ourselves and forget to treat ourselves like a friend, so enlist a good friend who will listen to your problems and let you talk them out. It’s amazing how much better you’ll feel when you finally say your stresses out loud to a comforting ear.

#5: Pamper yourself

Take a day to just get away from it all and treat yourself to a makeover, a new hair style, laser hair removal, or whatever you’ve been wanting to do for yourself but just haven’t taken the time for. Women tend to make sure everyone else is taken care of, but often put their own needs aside. By making a little time to pamper yourself every now and then, you’ll feel your batteries recharged and have more energy to take on the world.
